What is Hannya? Why people get tattoo of the Hannya? It is a is a popular Japanese theater mask design, it portrays a jealous female demon. It possesses two sharp bull-like horns, glaring eyes, and a leering mouth split from ear to ear. The Hannya mask represents a woman who has been betrayed by love and is filled with rage, jealousy and hatred. The anger and envy have so consumed her that she has turned into a demon, but with some important traces of humanity left. The pointed horns, gleaming eyes, fang-like teeth, combined with a look of pure resentment and hate are tempered by the expression of suffering around the eyes and the artfully disarrayed strands of hair, which indicate passionate emotion thrown into disorder. This mask show the transformation of human into a demon due to desperate desires and rage.
